When a school combines a very rigorous core corriculm with a computer registration system, they create stress. You think you won't get closed out if you get up at 7 in the morning to register. It is a nightmare.

Just breathe Kay. It all works out. See your advisor. And some kids add drop. Check daily for openings. They DO change daily sometimes.

And you have four years to get it all done. It will work out. Be flexible.

You cant take every wonderful professor and course. Trust me. Nobody has that much time. But be selective.

AP’s count on the back side of the core if you got a high enough AP score. Yes, they are electives mostly, but they count.

You are not alone. BUt it all works out.

Freshmen registered this morning at 7AM. That was stressful-- D4 stayed up all night working on a paper, but she got her classes. Good thing, because there was only one possible schedule that would work for her majors. I have 3 in college right now, all with very strict requirements, but D2’s school is within a larger university, so there are more courses to pick from (she still struggles with not being able to schedule requirements and will probably need an extra semester to graduate.) D3’s school doesn’t do computer registration. Still stressful, but at least, because you register by appointment, there isn’t a total feeding frenzy at one specific moment.

I know how you feel kayf. My D is in her senior year and didn’t like registration. Heck, I remember core requirements and registration at Fordham in the 70’s…and feelt frustrated that I could not take the classes I wanted when I wanted, but in the end it all worked out and I got all I wanted. Think of registration as part of your “Real world” life lessons that prepare you for the many aspects of modern life/society that will frustrate and slow you down. Hang in there, get through it, be flexible and you should be fine.

Tomorrow you will love Fordham again…as my D does and as I have for over 35 years.

My daughter got the classes she wanted.
