i hate to be one of those annoying "should i retake" people but....

i am a high school junior.

i took the sat's in november.

i got a 2310.

i am shooting for top schools, like harvard and yale.

should i retake the sat's?

will colleges see that i got a 2310 when i was relatively younger than most people and give me some leniency for that?

is this score good enough to get me into my dream schools?

i still have plenty of time to retake it.

thanks for the help!

...

Unless you completely failed (710'd) something you were supposedly good at, no.

you do realize your only 90 points from a perfect score? god you guys are annoying jkjk you dont need to retake it

breakdown of my score:
750 CR
760 M
800 W

the thing is, lots of people have told me that unelss i got a 2350++, my shots at the ivies are practically 0...

.....My composite is a 2300. I'm hoping for Brown....Ivies are definitely in your reach.

thanks guys!

furthermore:: will colleges look down on me if i DO retake it? (they'll see it as being excessively perfectionistic?)

-- i got a 2310. --

Go to hell. You don't need to retake the ****ing SAT's.

does anyone have any data about average sat scores for harvard, etc... i found some but mostly they seem to be from the 1600 scale

Why spend $44 on something you don't need to do? Use it to pay your fees for score reports, which will add up if you apply to lots of colleges.

Your scores are well in, and even above, the averages for the Ivy schools.

BTW: To your other question: collegeboard.

thanks guys

i don't think i'll retake it, it just sucks because i always wanted that 2400! oh well, i was (relatively) close this time. good enough i guess!

lmao...why don't u try the ACT...that's what i did. i got like 10 points lower than u on the SATs and wasn't completely satisfied and then took the ACT and got a 36 (without practice yay - its easier)

but i've been practicing the sat so much that i don't think i will do that well on the ACT.... the science section kills

well that's what i thought, because i've never taken an ACT in practice before, but i knew that even if i did horribly my SAT was still satisfactory and i could just not send the ACT

and then i got a 36

my non-800 Math SAT score is a good conversation starter, though.

It is definitely not necessary to retake it. Those scores are amazing. I'm jealous lol.

yes, i hope they're harvard/yale caliber!

i would retake them. those are good scores but you probably need to do better

If i was a college I would reject anybody who retook a 2300+ unless they had a damn good reason to retake it - this just screams "I'm an elitist ****** who only cares about name-brand schools"

-- yes, i hope they're harvard/yale caliber! --

Only if you survived cancer or escaped from a remote village in Darfur.

2310??

LOL good luck with ivies then. You are right, only 2350+ scores will get you in. They see your score, they will reject you right away. I'm sorry.

what is that supposed to mean? hammer, you're the only person on this thread whose actually recommended retaking it. i only wanted to retake it because i wanted to do all i could in order to improve my chances of getting in. it's nothing about snobbery or anything. i don't want to be pretentious- believe me! if i had it my way i wouldn't touch those sat's once anymore, but i just don't know if it's worth the risk. i already told myself that if i got 2350+ i wouldn't retake. but 2310 is just barely above 2300... sighh.
