These past couple years in high school I have underachieved, and at times succeeded, but I am worried that my GPA might mask the student I really am. I have suffered depression and OCD which to some may seem like minor obstacles but I can honestly say my performance in school was affected because of them. To start, I am an IB student and getting the diploma looks within reach after many doubts. I have done many ECs including various varsity sports and also I am in many clubs. My community service is excellent as well. I will be at 400 hours once this year is over. I am a Florida resident and I am thinking UF is mostly out of the question now but UCF is a school I would be ecstatic with if I were accepted. Below are my statistics and the colleges I have started applying to hopefully some people on here can give me a glimmer of hope but still maintain honestly.
2.6UW/4.01W
2000 SAT Score
ACT (not yet taken)
I have taken 1 or 2 honors classes, all of my classes have been AP or IB (my schedule is ridiculous).
I have done 3 years of V Baseball
1 of Water Polo
1 of Swimming
4 years of chess club (current president)
1 year of math club
450 community service hours
How much will being an IB student help?
Should I mention reasons for my low GPA in my essay?
Do I need to panic, I'm losing sleep over this?
Does my success this year have any influence? (I am doing very well so far this year)
If anyone can talk to me more extensively, personally, I would gratefully appreciate it.
Here are some colleges I began applying to, any I should weed out?

What is your Florida GPA? (+.5 for honors, +1 for AP)

It’s +1 for IB/AP
I read this is added after I apply.

You have a strange grading system whenever your weighted GPA is 1.0 or more greater than your unweighted.

It’s because IB classes are weighted so heavily.

Your SAT scores are above average for the places you’re considering, but the GPA is definitely a problem… Usually when someone has a high SAT score and low GPA colleges see them as smart but lazy. If you can write a good essay on why your grades are so low, and how coping with your OCD and depression changed you that may be helpful.
Don’t not apply to UF and UCF because you’re afraid you won’t get in. Since you’re in-state, the chances are much higher than an out of stater, and the worst they could do is deny you. If they take the time to look at your ECs, they are very impressive.
I wouldn’t not apply to any of those colleges, I think you have a fair shot of getting into any of them as long as they look past your GPA. It could be luck of the draw since some colleges weed out the rejects by computer before they look more closely, but again, what’s the worst that could happen, and I have faith you’ll get into quite a few of those schools.

Hey, thanks a lot for the encouragement and input. Maybe I’m underestimating my possibilities but I rather be realistic and pessimistic rather than get let down. I will apply to these schools, I understand my odds are greater since I am a Florida resident. Do you suggest I include these reasons for not succeeding in my essay. To me, I feel that excuses can only hurt, I have already made slight mention but I prefer noting more. But anyways let me know fi you get this back.
