I have a dilemma concerning foreign language courses.

I plan on applying for the ivies. People tell me to take spanish for all four years of high school. The problem is that if I took spanish for all 4 years, I wouldn't be taking the toughest courseload possible because I would only be in spanish 4 by senior year when everyone else is in AP Spanish. Furthermore, there are other AP courses available in senior year that I could take in place of Spanish 4.

The reason for my impediment in Spanish is because I chose reading class over spanish class back in middle school. 6th grade adv. reading class was extremely difficult. In 7th grade when they first offered a foreign language in place of reading class, I continued to take reading class. To my dismay, it was a class with an extremely light courseload compared to 6th grade reading. By freshman high school year, I took my first spanish I class...

It's not going to hurt you all that much if you don't take one more AP. For me the question is whether there's another class you would like to take instead of Spanish IV. If not, take the 4th year of Spanish or take a free period. If there's another class you'd rather take...take it.

Don't worry, you're in better shape than I am...I've only got two years of Spanish under my belt. Decided to opt out of Spanish III to take a free period. Before I joined CC, I thought, "You're taking 5 AP's, you deserve a break." Now it's like, "You're only taking 5 AP's?" lol.

samething with me, somebodynew! lol CC is evil

LOL! somebodynew that is so true. Before i joined I was proud that i was one of the few that took three APs at my school during my junior year. But when i came here i was like ONLY THREE? That led me to self study two other APs and take five AP exams.
Now when i heard people saying all APs senior year i'm like hmm that's good kind of standard but your APs are easy when i see AP psychology or AP stat or their schedule. So i don't dissuade them like others do. Others are like "U r gonna die." I'm like "you might want to drop some easy APs and take some challenging ones." lol a creation of cc

Yeah, in RL it's - "You're taking 5 AP's? Are you nuts?"

On CC it's - "Meh. I took 6 Junior year, and now I'm taking 7. I sacrificed lunch to squeeze in another AP."

Yeah, according to my college counselor, the fact that I'm not taking Spanish III does not screw me completely, so I'm trusting him and enjoying my free period.
