I have a few questions about my college list & visits

Hey everyone. So far I have visited 6 schools, sadly- I only see myself realistically applying to 3. Here are the schools I have visited and some I want to visit- if anyone has insight/ recommendations it would be nice (as in maybe in general where do these schools fall i.e safety etc. & other schools i should look at)
Also what do you guys think about apply to a school but not visiting- is that a bad idea??

Visited

SUNY Oneonta (Will apply)
SUNY Cortland
PACE University (Will Apply)
LIU- Brooklyn Campus (Will Apply)
The College of Saint Rose

SAT: Will retake. Aiming for an 1100, (CR & M) currently a 960 (suckish I know)
ACT Will take in September Practice ACT has been 25-29

I will be double majoring in Early-Childhood education and Psychology
I want to stay within 2 hours South of NYC and 4 Hours North. And I want to stay in NY, NJ, Ct, PA

Thanks

I think it’s best to apply to schools that you have visited, because sometimes the visit can really be what makes you love or hate a school. I have two friends that visited the same school, one loved it and one didn’t like it at all so she is able to save the time and effort (and application fee!) by not applying to a school she couldn’t see herself at. Plus if it’s a smaller school, they keep track of who visits and who doesn’t, and visiting shows interest which can be helpful in the admissions process. If you do get into the ones you haven’t seen I would recommend at least visiting it then. Good luck and hopefully you’ll be able to visit all of them!

how did you build that list?

What do you mean? I just did a general search on schools nearby and zeroed in on each and went and visited the ones I was most interested in based on what I found

It is fine to apply to schools before you visit, but I would really try to visit each school you are considering before you make a decision as to where to attend. Also SUNY New Paltz might be one to consider as well.

I’m reallllly close to new Paltz & I plan on dorming in my mind I just can’t justify paying to dorm being 15/ 20 minutes away
