Ok so I just checked my gpa from the past 2 years and it’s a 3.0, 3.3 weighted. That’s terrible! I’ve put in so much effort, so I’m confused as to why that is. I got a D freshman year in math. And a C last year in math. But other than that it was Bs and some As. Why could this be? I have to go talk to my guidance counselor. But since I didn’t fail any classes technically, I cannot retake them. I’ve put in so much work and hours into school (and yeah it doesn’t show but I swear. My mom passed away freshman year so I slacked off a little but for a reason…). What would you recommend I do?
Well a B average is a 3.0 so the GPA makes sense. Its not gonna get you into the top institutions, but if you take and pass all he required classes you will graduate, and there will be a college for you if that’s the path you choose. If you want to improve your GPA for the next two years, work on getting As in all your classes.
First, my sympathies on the loss of your mom at such a young age!
Let’s assume for the sake of argument that your grades show absolutely no improvement. It’s still not an issue-- look at the threads for B and C students here.
But also know that colleges love to see improvement. OK, so math isn’t your strong point. Not a big deal. Continue to plug away, and try for a B if that’s possible.
But do go speak to your guidance counselor. Make sure the numbers are correct. Then work to improve them, one quiz and one homework at a time.
And know that “Every pot has a lid.” You’ll find a college that will be a great fit for you!
