First of all, can you bring electronic devices to West Point? like ipod?

What are the obligations? Can you bring books? Can you bring a lot of things to West Point? Or is it better for my parents to mail them in. Can they mail anything they want?

During Beast they do not allow any electronics.

After Beast, it depends on the company. Some allow ipods and other electronics, others do not. Most, if not all, allow cell phones.

During Beast, only certain things mailed to you will be allowed. Any food or snack items will be confiscated.

You will not want to take much to R-day, as you will have to carry everything.

After Beast, your parents can mail things to you, but space in your room is very limited.

Suggest following the packing list in the booklet you were sent, and then watch for additional suggested items.

"During Beast they do not allow any electronics".

After Beast, however, does anyone have any idea about the WP policy on the Amazon Kindle or similar (e.g. the Sony Reader)? (Download of books to a reading device). They are sort of new, and I know the Kindle is way back-ordered, but there are a lot of books available via this technology. Would they be a prohibited item along with IPods, with the determination at the company level, or does WP think could they be used for textbooks or training literature (vs. hard copy)?
