I have a question

what is the difference between AP and Honors classes? My teacher says that they are the same, but I don’t think it is.

ap is classes designed to be similar to those during college and is weighted a little more depending on what school you go to. honors is similar but just under ap in terms of rigor

Thank you so much for clearing that up! At my school, freshmen can only take AP human geography and not other AP classes :frowning:

yeah my school has around 20 or so and they are + 10 weighted points while honors is +8

At my school, ( though I don’t how your school is, it differs). On level= super easy, if you take this, you’re showing no motivation.
honors: acceptable for freshman/sophomores or if AP isn’t offered you would take this class.
Honors shows that you challenge yourself, but you’re not overly challenging. This depends on the class though, at my school Hons v on-level Pre-calc makes a huge difference. On level pre-calc is a good challenge, but honors pre-calc is very difficult.
AP: depending on your school, AP’s might be the norm. I would guess that nationally, taking an AP class is very “prestigious” and you shouldn’t take them until your certain you would do well ( meaning you get an A or B in your honors classes).

That’s the case at most schools since the vast majority of AP’s have required background courses that need to be completed first.

In order to take as many APs as I can, I will be attending school in the summer to get ahead.
