I'm going to be a sophomore, attending a college almost 2 hours away.
Even though I'm not very photogenic (either that or I just try too hard when getting my picture taken), I'm pretty, so I think I have a chance at modeling.
I have always wanted to model.
Do you know if I'm able to be away at school, and still model?

You have to be a lot more than pretty to be a model

There are millions upon millions of pretty girls in this world. Very few of them can actually be successful at modeling. You said yourself that you’re not photogenic. That’s like saying an aspiring chef saying that he can’t really cook.

I knew a few people in college who modeled for magazines, etc. It’s definitely possible, but requires you to be extremely attractive, lucky, or persistent. Probably a combination of all 3. Be careful not to get scammed.

when i think of modeling i think of posing nude for an art class to draw or something. id do it if i got paid for it.

to modeling agency: even though i look bad in all of the pictures i sent you, i’m really very pretty, i swear

I used to model. It’s boring and not glamorous and doesn’t pay well. Never doing it again

I used to model a little bit in middle school. I wouldn’t recommend it. Not all of the jobs are glamorous and get your picture in magazines, etc. Some are downright embarrassing.

Cheshire Cat, if you’re interested in modeling just send me a PM. ;)

you can be my personal model.

^^^^ You modeled in middle school? uh… was the photographer some creepy dude with a mustache?

Nope lol, real model with an agent and everything. Half the time it isn’t even ‘photographer’ type modeling. It’s more like showing up at festivals and things, doing lame fashion shows in the mall for overpriced junk, etc.

I bet you can find some nice gigs on craigslist. =]

there are plenty of modelling positions available but a lot of them require at least a masters and sometimes a PhD.

Not all modeling requires you to be “pretty”, you have to have a face that’s unique and stands out. You can be a editorial model or a runway model, and both. Not being photogenic can be a problem, and if you’re not thin, like less than a size 4 you will have a harder chance. And its not that great, too much pressure and people wanting to bring you down. And not to mention you may not be payed a lot until you become some tippy top model.

I’d just get a REAL job. Like an escort, or a stripper.

To That1guy, if your trying to bring me down, then your already below me.

where’s that1guy?

you could, that doesnt mean you will be a model. it is hard work (not that i have ever modeled). there are a lot of people who are very pretty and dont get picked to do it. good luck to ya though
