I have an F for AP Chemistry this semester, will UCSD rescind my admission?

Hi everyone…
So it’s my teacher’s first year teaching AP Chemistry and the class was never doing well at all. Nobody’s passing this class at my school. I have an F in the class, but I’ve already completed all my A-G courses, so AP Chemistry is just an elective. The rest of my grades consist of A’s B’s and C’s, and my weighted gpa is still at a solid 3.00 for this semester. Will UCSD rescind my admission?

I don’t know for sure, call them and see what happens.
Generally, Colleges don’t want to see D’s and F’s, but I would call them just to make sure.

I tried calling them today, but they said their admissions officers weren’t available. I have read their contract and the only thing I see that’s somewhat related to my issue is their “nothing lower than a C on UC approved A-G courses during senior year” policy, but thing is I’ve already completed my A-G’s. I will call them tomorrow though, for sure. Thanks for the help!

Can you talk to your guidance counselor? I don’t think the school would let there be a course where literally no one would pass. They could probably take some action

I heard people were having meetings with one of our higher ups about similar classes. They say their taking action on it. I will try to get a hold of him tomorrow. But the thing is, he’s “guaranteed” some kids C’s already as long as they have a D. He told me he’s guaranteeing me a C around a month ago and that taking the optional final test will boost it up even more (some people who showed no concern for the class were given the test as a mandatory task). But just today, after completely failing the final, I talked to him about my grade, and he literally went away from his word in that instant and said that I’m getting an F if I don’t pass the final.

The final wasn’t a make it or break it deal by the way, he said that our grade cannot go lower any more. The final test is just given to help us.

I suggest emailing UCSD admissions using the link on their “contact us” page. Its more likely to get the attention of the right person; the staffer answering the phone is probably not an adcom. Furthermore it gives you a record of what was said. If someone tells you one thing (or you think that’s what they said) and later they say another, you don’t have much to go on if it was all on the phone.

Hopefully you are ok. But you want to keep on top of this in case they want you to take a makeup class this summer.

Perhaps @ucbalumnus can help here.

Yes, you need to figure out how to contact UCSD about it.
