Hi :D I'm applying to Andover and Deerfield for sure this year and want to apply to one more school, and I would like help choosing that school. I'm currently looking at Blair Academy, S.P.S, Kent, Holderness School, and Berkshire School. I don't care much for the acceptance rate but more for the correct fit. I'll give some information about myself and hope that that will help you help me :P Hahaha (This is NOT a chance thread)

I am in 9th grade, applying for 9th grade, and I reside in the states.

I've got awards in Basketball, Debate, and Science, and I'm also really into the Humanities as you can see. I like small schools or schools with a cluster program like Andover has. I'm indifferent to formal or casual dress codes though... I'd like a school with a breadth of philosphy, ethics, and religion classes, with a campus close to a town, and a more independent student body.

I’d definitely reccomend Holderness I’m starting this week as a new sophomore and I couldn’t be happier with what I’ve seen so far. That being said it doesn’t necessarly sound like the perfect fit for you, but I would definitely take a tour and see it in person. A school that seems like it could be a better fit for you is Suffield Academy in Suffield CT. I have a few friends that go there and they all really like it and I know they have a great basketball team and it’s very close to Springfield MA. (The home of basketball).

Consider George School, in Newtown, PA, or one of the “Grottlesex” schools. If you’re an enthusiastic, competent athlete, but not a super-jock, they might be better fits than Andover or Deerfield, where they recruit post-grads and “repeat juniors” for varsity sports.Your interesting selection of schools suggest that you might be a skier; is that the case?

As you state that “I don’t care much for the acceptance rate but more for the correct fit”, it comes as a surprise that you choose to apply Andover & Deerfield.

Other than the fact that these 2 schools have the 2 lowest admit rates, they are VASTLY DIFFERENT in character, despite dorm clustering at Andover.

Deerfield and Andover have very low acceptance rates. Hundreds of stellar kids get waitlisted and rejected from those schools every year. If you really want to go to a boarding school next year, apply to at least two or three other schools.
