Seriously, my Bio teacher assigns us barely any homework at all (which is why I haven't read a single chapter in my text). We've only covered chem, macromolecules, and cells... are we screwed?

Should I start cramming my text now or just use the AP prep book? The thing is I tested my self on a real AP bio exam and those questions were REALLY detailed. I thought it would be more general. :/

Yeah, you should start studying now. "Cramming" isn't the word I'd use, though. You're not screwed as long as you're motivated to get a good score and don't think it's the teacher's fault if you get a bad score.

My bio teacher was really stupid and had only one student get a 5 the year before. I never used the textbook, since I could get a C on every test (the tests were really easy), and that got me an A in the class. I studied the textbook for an entire week one month before the exam and then again the night before the exam (I also used the AIM APBio chatroom) and got a 5.

I had a great bio teacher that could really simplify the topics so I NEVER read (except cramming at 3AM before the exam). But I never understood as much as my friend who always read and he actually got legitimate A's without the curve.

His strategy was to look at the diagrams in campbells, which btw are supposedly very good, and that really helped him fully understand everything. I'm pretty sure campbells is very good, but I read very little of it. Cliffnotes is also very good, but our bio tests were usually extremely challenging.

I never read for the AP Bio test and I never really studied much for the test. Actually, I only partially read 6 chapters out of the Campbell book.

I did, however, study for the AP Bio test by reading a chapter or 2 out of the Cliffnotes book. Follow along with your teachers lectures and read the Cliffs book and you'll receive at least a 4, if you study hard enough.

Surprisingly, I passed the AP test with a 3. I could have gotten a better score, if I read more than 2 chapters of the Cliffnotes book.

i understand your situation =p
my AP BIO teacher is CRAPPY and her AP Exam passing rate was >30% (yikes)
we've only had 1 test & she always complains that she is too tired to teach =/
i bought the Barrons AP Bio book thingy..& thats been helping a lot. If you have the Campbell text book (green w/ the black binding), the CD in the back helps also.
there are many outside resources you can go to...just make sure to find them before the big AP test =)
so in a nutshell, STUDY NOW. it will def. be worth it in the end.
