I just got a 520 on my SAT II Biology, should I change my major of interest?

I had originally listed Biology as my major of intent for several elite colleges. Should I change it to something else like Chemistry or Mathematics? I want to head on the pre-med course.

I had a received an B and a B+ for AP Biology last year.

What should I do to have the big chance at acceptance?

If Pre-Med is what you really desire, then apply to that school, within the colleges you are looking at. Do the schools require SAT II tests? If they do not require SAT II tests, then there is little you need to be worried about. Once you apply to a certain school within the college, transfers to another program are difficult, or even impossible to do. Don’t let your B and B+ stop you from doing what you want.

No, you should not change your major interest. (You won’t even need to recognize your major until end of sophomore year). If Biology is your interest, then good. It’s good to have a passion. Just take the test again.

You shouldn’t do it for the sake of college admissions but I’d think hard about whether you want to go down the arduous path of premed when you only get a 520 on the SAT II.

This was my last shot at Standardizing Testing.

My low score has nothing to do with how much I actually know/able to learn. The score reflected what I had attained over the summer (which is nothing).

Yes, the schools that I’m applying to recommend that I take at least three SAT II’s.

Here’s some other details that I left out that might help you guys understand the context of my situation better…

I have taken 13 Science/Math courses over the course of my high school career.

I’m taking two AP Sciences and two AP Maths in my senior year.

Should I still keep my major as Biology or change it? (520 is 18th percentile – terrible, I know).
