I just got a viewbook...

I recieved a viewbook from Cornell yesterday and I'm even more confident that it is where I want to be. I've gone through so much that it's my dream to go there. I REALLY want to go to Cornell...I really hope they accept me as a transfer and let me finish my last two years there.

yeah, it's pretty isn't it? :p

It's really pretty. But the total package of nice dining, academics, and sports is what's really inviting.

it amazes me that so many people tell me that the campus is very pretty ... and then i go to cornell on the month (august) when ithaca had the worst drought (of course, I didn't know that when i visited), and all i see are fields of brown grass and limping trees. but aside from that, the gorges are very cool (i like how the campus is perched on a hill) and the lake is very pretty. i also have to agree with bullseye on how the "total package" was really appealing.

Right now it's where I want to be. I will be very unhappy if I hear in may that I didn't get in. I have not visited, but if I do get in I am planning on visiting before saying "yes," as I have made that mistake of choosing a school before visiting and I have dearly paid the price.

i highly recomend a visit. Also, eat on campus as well, either RPCC or Appel. Also, check out some of the libraries, at least Uris and Olin. Take campus tour as well, but also go beyond the tour and really explore campus. If anybody is gonna do a tour, let me know and i can do the 'other' tour (places the official tour doesn't take you for times sake). I can also arrange a collegetown visit, just a minute off campus by foot.

oh yeah that was so ironic...they just replanted all the grass. i did find that funny. that "rainy ithaca" had dead grass.

how's the party scene at cornell?

big...a lot of frats, and there are some really incredible parties. This weekend was really jumping. On Friday Sig Phi had 2 dance floors and an ourdoor balcony going with fog machines, strobes, color machines and real DJs with a Studio 54 theme, not to mention a red carpet and velvet rope entrance, and then on Sat. Ki Psi had a basement dance floor with several hundred people in it, sick music, a bar, strobes, and an overall great atmosphere. beirut tables outside at both places, and bouncers at the door because they were so packed.

Theres stuff like that every weekend. White parties, black and white parties, 80s parties, regular parties, you name it. Multiple parties to choose from each weekend night. Thursday nights there is usually something to do too, but it's not as good as friday when everyone is free to let loose.

During Orientation week, the streets of collegetown (on the southern edge of the academic campus) flood with students. It's like whole streets with the apartments' tenents having house parties.

Some of the frats are really sweet, I was chillin at DKE on friday before going out, and they have several Tiffany & Co. stained glass windows which are insured for over $1,000,000 each. (They're still installed, but sandwiched in plexiglass).

Thanks for the offer Gomestar, I'm sure I'll be using it if I do indeed get into Cornell. How would I contact you?

dpo4@cornell.edu <--- always the fastest and easiest

dang, those parties sounded awesome. I didnt go out this weekend due to work that had to be done, i just rented a few movies and relaxed with my girlfriend in her townhouse. The weekend before i went to Kappa Sigma and they had 2 dance floors going. Pretty hip, as always.

You can't find a real party every night like you can at other schools (Penn State, for example), but people really do work hard during the week so no one would go anyway. Thursdays there is always something at Beta; last week, they had a "Fire and Ice" theme, which was pretty cool. I was at Chi Psi this weekend too, crazy party. Fiji had a nice one as well.

I'm hosting pre-frosh this weekend, and we're technically not allowed to bring them to parties so I'm not sure how this weekend will be for me!

if you try and party every night of the week you won't be partying for a second semester...

hmmm...awesome
