ok, so i got a 700 in sat 1 math. and my sat 2c is 750 b/c i took it 2 yrs after precalc w/o studying. and unfortunately, im an asian. ive heard that i should retake 2c for my last test date for uc's. yea?

if you're asian definitely retake it

It doesn't matter if you're Asian or not. Gawd, you Asians thinkin' yer so damn hot at math...

I'd say the score's fine unless you're looking to major in something math/engineering.

^^ Are you serious? lol

Arachnotron: trust me, many asians know we'r not the best at math.
its just the asian parents who get competitive, and since they can't expect us to be the best in english, esp. if we'r immigrants, they make us study math. DX

Actually, China almost always scores first (and rarely second) in the International Math Olympiad...

Retake 750; not because you're Asian, but because it's a 750.

I agree. Even if you are not asian, you should still have a 800 at the least. And asians are great at math. I know its a stereotype, but the majority of asians ARE above average in math.

Oh, my God! Are you guys serious? You should retake a 750 on math? Where are you applying, Harvard?

I got a 680 on math, first try, was rated 91 percentile, and I'm jumping for joy! Of course, I'd like to bring it up, since I got a 690 in verbal, and a 730 on writing, but I usually test pretty poorly, so this was a big confidence booster to me.

I'm applying to engineering school, so I'd like to be in the higher percentile for math, but wow, I'm tickled pink.

As for being Asian, it would seem that you'd be classified as a minority, so that should be a plus. I'm a white male, so I've got to fight ten times as hard to get into a good school.

Montegut, we're talking SAT II's, you're talking SAT I. Congrats on the 2100, I guess. Asians are an overrepresented minority: they are working at a disadvantage.

"As for being Asian, it would seem that you'd be classified as a minority, so that should be a plus. I'm a white male, so I've got to fight ten times as hard to get into a good school."

This was pretty funny.

You know that affirmative action and quotas make it super competitive for Asians to get into college, right? Because most colleges put a quota for each minority group, often those spots fill up very fast and it draws from a very large pool of applicants, so alot of asians dont get in. 10x as hard for you getting into college? that's funny, not even close. its probably less competitive for you to get into college than it is for us.

And yeah, being a minority is only helpful if you are an URM, which in most cases are people of African, Native American or Latino descent.

@Montegut, I sincerely hope that was a sarcastic remark, because if otherwise....
LOL...
It's probably the hardest for asians to get into top colleges haha
