I finished signing up for classes and it was somewhat a long and gruesome period to get everything fitting together.

But no matter what I couldn't get a very satisfying schedule because I am a vis arts major and all the lecture classes are really late, which i hate.

Anyways I signed up for 4 classes and have a total of 18 units.
The classes that I signed up for are MMW4T, VisArts1, VisArts70N, VisArts84
I am a ERC student.

This is my first year as a transfer student @ ucsd and my first time in a quarter system.
Do you think this will be too heavy of a work load?
I also live off campus in hillcrest and will be taking the shuttle from the medical center.
Also planning on getting a on campus job.
While also juggling with taking care of my senior golden retriever that I need to take for a walk everyday.

When I look at my schedule, it looks a little tough but it's hard for me to judge.
And as much as I would like to drop one class, I feel that if I did I would not graduate in time.

I’m in the same boat as you; I sign up for classes tomm afternoon. Did you get into all the classes that you wanted initially?

All my classes are already full and have a wait list but the engineering advisor said that some spots will open up so who knows if I can get in…

Sorry but I can’t answer your questions but it sounds like 18 units is quite a load for your first quarter experience… only my 2 cents…

im an engineering major too. two of three are open for now, but the physics course i need is waitlisted with 3 people

And yeah OP, it seems like all the course that we (transfers) want are as late at night as they could possibly make them. Are we being punished?

THe only class that’s absolutely terrible for me is Math 20e… but I don’t need to take it anytime soon. Hopefully I get into statistics and reliability, statics, and intro to structures and I only go to school Tues-Thurs… I get a four day weekend every weekend and I’m considered a full-time student… =)

Now the problem is getting into those classes tomorrow…

I just finished and I’m registered for 2 courses and waitlisted for another. I’m waiting to hear from my advisor on what to do, but so far nothing. Everytime you refresh the schedule of classes five more seats have been filled. So much for having priority.

I just read the catalog for Math20E, I learned that stuff at my CC during Calc3. I’m going to call the Math Department and see if it would be okay to petition the course even though i was already given Math20C equivalency.

@lmendoza.012: Yea I got all the classes I needed except one class is colliding with another so I had to take another. I think it’s a lot easier for me to get my classes, especially being VisArts Major. And also considering my situation do you think I should drop down to 14 units? The only thing I’m worried about is being able to graduate in 2 two years if I dont take 18. But maybe I’m too paranoid.

@INSERT: Yea all the classes are so late, especially for VisArts, I have ones that end at 8:50…I hope I can catch the last shuttle back to hillcrest.

I don’t need to take any math classes thank god.
I think all i need is the 3 MMW classes and thats all thats required.
The rest is just VisArts Classes. YAY.

@ameliepee: As long as I (an engineering major who finished all prereqs) take 16 units every quarter from Winter 2011 up until Spring 2012, I should graduate in time…

Keep in mind, I did take summer school this year and am planning on taking 12 units next summer. But I don’t see why you wouldn’t graduate on time; plan out your schedule now and don’t be afraid of summer school.

My friend went through the Summer bridge program at UCSD, and he said it’s very hard juggling with only two classes. He’s a freshman there, though.

Yeah I only took 4 units this past summer… I think I’ll be okay for next summer though - all my classes are technical electives so I basically get to choose classes from other science majors and what not. Worst case scenario, I don’t do summer school next year and I’ll have to come back for either Summer 2012 and/or Fall 2012… Chances are I’m still going to walk during graduation in 2012 (I’ll have units by then)
