I feel like I have a ridiculous number of boxes, but don't feel like I have a ton of excess stuff. I was just curious how many boxes you guys packed.

Ahh yes, the conclusion my roommate and I came to the other day when we finally got all of our stuff unpacked after moving in Aug 1–consider that we’re seniors in college though, not entering freshmen.

“You will never know how much crap you really have until it comes time to move.”

2 suitcases, no boxes.

This past summer I had 6 small/medium-sized boxes in storage, in addition to 2 suitcases I brought home. When I got back to school, I discarded 2 boxes worth of stuff because I realized that I didn’t need it. Two of the remaining four boxes I put into my closet without unpacking (old notes & textbooks, and barely-used electronics).

I have a couple duffel (gym) bags with clothes, no boxes.

But I did the Bed Bath and beyond “pick it up down there” thing where you order at home and get your stuff in your college town, so I didn’t have to pack any of that stuff.

No boxes, 6 suitcases of various sizes. My room still feels empty.

2 suitcases, 6 boxes of various sizes. But also some furniture. And a laundry basket.

But I needed stuff for a whole year since I stayed here this summer, will stay here this fall and spring, and next summer as well.

1 suitcase, 1 garment bag, 3 medium boxes, golf bag w/clubs, hockey gear in bag, and a couple gym bags

1 large suitcase, 1 duffel bag, 4 plastic crate things, 2 fabric box things, laundry basket (full of stuff), 1 garment bag…and a car trunk full of stuff for the horse.

1 large suitcase, 1 duffel bag, backpack, laptop bag, and lots of other plastic/shopping bags full of stuff. No boxes though. I still feel like I don’t have that much stuff?

No boxes, I am using plastic garbage bags and shopping bags. Boxes take up WAY too much space in the car.

I’m moving in tomorrow and right now I have a large suitcase, a mountain of stuff for my bed (2 bedsheets, 2 blankets meant for a full bed, 2 pillows, etc, it’s in a laundry bag that’s standing up like 3.5+ feet and it looks awful lol), my backpack which has my school stuff, and an extra bag (or two, I haven’t finished yet). It’s a whole lotta stuff. :

It’ll be tricky since I’m moving in NYC, and you can’t exactly park in the street there, so I’ll need to take out all the stuff at once to go check-in.

Three small boxes and two big boxes, then the minifridge, the fan, the TV, and three stacking crates all filled with stuff.

ohgod - At my dorm orientation they told us to stall on the side of the road and unload all your stuff, then drive off to find a parking garage and have someone wait with all your crap on the side of the road.

One suitcase, two boxes.
But the amount of stuff I have has increased since then and now it’s harder to manage!

If you’re taking a fridge, you can pack it full of stuff to save space. Also, if you’re taking a lot of stuff in the original boxes, you should look in the boxes and see if you can’t put more things in there. Basically anything that’s hollow can hold stuff.
