first off good luck on getting college board to believe you. just so you know, the SAT isnt stupid enough to allow sitting next to a smart person to work. there are 3 or 4 different tests per room . . . and dictionaries on calculators are legal btw.

if you need to cheat on the SAT, you won't get a good score anyway time restraints are too limited to allow you a window of time to look up answers in.

and yes there are legal and nonlegal ways to 'cheat' on the SAT. although i wont tell u here or on PM dont want to give ideas . . . and no i dont cheat myself although i know some ppl who have and how they did it. funny how my 2330 SAT w/o cheating was 200 points above the highest kid who i know cheated .

all in all good luck getting some1 at college board to believe u. bragging about cheating could be a dork's way of getting a menacing 'reputation' . even i dont believe you lol. a big difference in prior score means nothing . . . and a big difference between math/verbal also means nothing . . . and sitting next to a smart person means nothing too cuz different exam versions are passed out . . .

it sounds as if your turning him in out of jealousy to me . . .

Guys, I didnt ask for your judgement on whether he cheated or not. I am 100% positive he cheated. How the **** do i turn him in?

Should I contact college board?

Reasons I am turning him in

1) I know kids on the school's waiting list who deserve a spot there, and didnt get in because of kids like this.

2) The kid is an *******. He brags about getting into college over everyone else(he stopped bragging about the SAT while ago).

Note: I got a very simular score as this kid, and I am going to a completely different college, and I didnt cheat on my SATs. This isnt out of jealousy. I personally do NOT gain anything out of this, I just think that when kids cheat on SATs it makes a mockery of everything everyone on thi board has ever worked for, and This kid would be in community college if it weren't for some "smart asian kid" he was sitting next to.

go ahead and contact them. have fun getting them to believe you.

more importantly......what are these legal ways of cheating you speak of?

calculator programs that solve things for you. u can make them, get them from others or download them if ur calculator has a USB.

and dictionaries on calculators, although with most test centers that won't help as they make u put calculators away for verbal.

Contact college board. Be sure to have as much evidence and details as possible. Otherwise, they won't believe you at all.

I don't believe it -- a score improvement that large would have already been flagged by CB -- they would investigate the records, and invalidate the score or offer a free retake.

I commend you for doing this.

From the college board:
Cheating. Although tests are administered under strict supervision and security measures, testing irregularities may sometimes occur. To report any unusual behavior or suspicion of cheating (for example, someone copying from another test-taker, taking a test for someone else, having access to test questions before the exam, or using notes or unauthorized aids), please contact us by phone at 609 406-5430 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. eastern/New York time, by fax at 609 406-9709, or by e-mail at tsreturns@ets.org as soon as possible. All information will be held strictly confidential.

where can i download these programs?

The Brown Bomber:

Read my earlier post. Good decision. Contact the college's admissions office with your evidence and let them follow up with an investigation.

They won't believe you without evidence. I dont even believe you. How the hell are you so certain that he cheated? Please tell me that. And dont just say you are 100% sure because that tells me nothing.

If someone's smart enough to write calculator problems to solve problems, they're smart enough to do the problem itself - and probably in a shorter amount of time than if they'd used the calculator.

http://www.ticalc.org/pub/83plus/basic/math/

just page through the site for more. u'll have to use a link software to actually put it on calc though.

I'm convinced you have some kind of vendetta against him. Honestly, it really isn't any of your business. Also, you have no proof. Maybe he's lying?

The OP does not need proof. If he has a reasonable suspicion (like, say, the GUY SAYS HE CHEATED), then the OP has a duty to report this suspicion and any evidence to the college board and to the colleges.

He can't say "this guy cheated". He doesn't have proof for that. But he can give them the information he has and allow the authorities to sort it out for themselves. It should be the college's decision at this point.

Wow
Give up and
Grow up
EVEN IF YOU HAVE SOME SMALL EVIDENCE, NOTHING SHORT OF A VIDEO TAPE WOULD DO ANYTHING AT THIS POINT

And just because you are making the "ethically right" decision by trying to turn him in (even though its for selfish reasons), it does not mean it is the right thing to do.

ATLien: That last sentence cracks me up. Ethically right is not the right thing to do?

If his evidence is insufficient, fine. But that's not your decision, my decision, or his decision. It's up to the college now to decide a course of action. The OP's duty is to give up whatever information he has.

I think the OP should have turned it in as soon as he saw it. Now it just seems like he is jealous that that person got such a high score. I don't think anything will come of it even if he does report it. Mainly because it is now so late and college board will be forced to wonder why OP waited that long.

Brown bomber save it, no ones going to believe you. Im getting the feeling that you have a bad relationship with the cheater in question (you said I dont like the kid), no ones going to believe someone who already has a bad relationship with the person in question. If the change in SAT score was that drastic then maybe he was sick the first time and healthy the second time. My PSAT score jumped from 1550 to 2100. The NMSQT called me and I told them the reason why I did so poorly the first time, I had BRONCHITIS. Why are you narcing on him? Do you personally get some satisfaction from telling on someone.

Also there is a kid in my Algebra 2 class bragging about finding aliens in his backyard, maybe I should call the CIA.
