Hey, I know Rice says they don't accept Jan SAT scores, but I wonder how strict they are on this. If I sent them in anyway and they had not finished assessing my application do you think they might consider them? If they wouldn't, but I sent them in would that tick them off?

I would call Rice first, and ask if there is any way you could get some lenience on this. Sometimes, if you call, they will feel that is is very important to you AND you were brave enough to call. If the admissions staff still say they don’t recommend it do not send it. If they seem conflicted/unsure: send it. If they say yes: even better! Hope this helped

I am pretty sure the answer is no. Allowing it would give an unfair advantage. That being said, it might be worth asking (if you have a good reason). Sending them will not tick them off (unless they specifically tell you NOT to). Most likely, it will be disregarded.

If you have a good reason, other than “I did better in Jan”, I would say that you should contact them.

Thanks for the replies!

I called and asked a week ago and she said no, but I don’t feel like I asked the question properly. On the Rice website it clearly says that the SAT deadline is Jan 1 or something, and basically all I did was ask if that was correct. I think I’ll send an email now and ask my question more clearly, which is: “If I send you my scores then will there be any chance in hell that you’ll look at them?”

For everyone’s information, Rice does have my SAT scores from a previous test so this is a retake. It is however, the only retake I will have ever done on any test. Maybe that helps me somehow if I mention that…

Anyways, I agree that it is probably unlikely.

The rule states that all testing must be completed by the deadline. Scores may arrive after that time, as long as your took the test before Jan 2nd or whenever the due date was.

Don’t think it matters.

The test I would like to send in will be taken this saturday. Oh, well. I’ll email them anyway.
