I heard from Columbia that they might not get Jan SAT scores in time for evaluation. This seems valid considering how Jan SAT is very end of the month and it takes about 3 weeks just to score and another 3-5 weeks to send the scores (unless you use rush report, which still takes days).

Is this true from all schools inclduing yale?
Am I risking "they MIGHT not get it in time" when I take Jan. SAT ?
THen, I'd rather not waste my money + time + stress on that.

I think you are risking that they might not get it in time if you take it in January; the admissions website says that December is the last month for testing, I do believe.

"January is the last month in which SAT I or SAT II Subject Tests may be taken for consideration under Regular Decision. "

This is from the Yale admission website. You must however list Yale as one of the four schools to receive your report. However the admission office has never dealt with the extra week Collegeboard added on after the October 05 SAT problem. So yes there is a chance, but I am sure Yale will wait if those are crucial scores in making a decision. (ie First SAT or first set of SAT Subject)

Hmm.. I was deferred early, and signed up to retake the SATs in January (not that I really needed to--I got 760V/790M/720W/2270C my first and only time around, but I thought it couldn't hurt if I got my writing score up), but I wasn't going to have them sent automatically in case my scores go down. Does rush-ordering score reports the day the scores are released still work, do you think?
