I Know This Has Been Answered Before, But

When is the first meeting of the admissions board?

In Octoberish...

Which is also around the time the first set of LOA's go out

If I recall last year the 1st board met mid-October.

The most important thing is to have your packet perfect. It will only be scored by the board 1x, it will get points added if you update with higher GPA, SAT and ECs.

Also, remember that you will read about people getting their appts in Nov, Dec, etc. Do not freak! Your appt. cannot be given out until everyone on the MOC's slate has been reviewed. In other words, if you are the 1st in and the last does not put in until Mar, the appt. can't be given out until March. Unless of course you are principal. I can tell you that NC does not even gie out their Sen noms until late Dec early Jan. Our friends son had his nom in Nov (CO) so he had his appt by Thanksgiving (he did not have an LOA)

Finally, the AFA only gives out about 10% in LOA's and I believe they said a total of 30% are given out before Mar. Which means that you will be taking deep breaths for a while...your pay off will be worth it in the end.

My admissions counselor at the AFA said that the first board meets early October. Your file must be complete before that board to be considered for a LOA.
