This may already be in another thread, but I looked real quick and couldn’t find anything, so here goes:

After a final nomination interview this Saturday, my Air Force Academy file will be completely finished. I emailed my ALO and asked him when I might be notified of a yes or no, and he said that (and I’m paraphrasing here) if I get in, I’ll be notified immediately, but if I don’t, I won’t find out until March. Could the collective wisdom of CC help explain to me why this is? I’d really appreciate it.

Kinda sorta. After you send in your info, there is a chance you could a get a LOA, (Letter of Assurance) very soon, within a month or even 2 weeks. However most people dont get LOA's, most people usually find out around March or April if they've been accepted, in fact I believe only 10-15 percent get LOA's so if you don't hear anything, dont worry, nothing is wrong. You'll be in the same boat as nearly all your classmates, just playing the waiting game.

Wow, I thought everyone got an LOA! I appreciate the info and will keep an eye out for anything. I assume the application page would change to reflect an LOA? Do you know how often the admission boards meet?

they started meeting once a week in october... i think in november sometime they started twice a week? im not sure.. when your app is completely done, it goes in front of the board the next time they meet. so its possible you could have an LOA soon. if not, then what everyone else said, most get accepted in march. from what christcorp says, your app page WILL reflect a LOA or appointment... whether or not you'll get the letter or a phonecall (from MOC) or see it on your app page first, i dunno...

They only meet 1x a week, every wed. Your packet goes up 1x. When new info (SAT/ACT/Class rank) the packet will be revisited. The nom is only 1 part of the equation "ACAD/EC/CFA" will aso be eval.
