I know this is annoying...but I will chance youuu!

I am in-state and go to a VERY competitive high school in Wake county. I applied to UNC RD. I also have a rigorous course schedule.

GPA: 4.29 (Weighted), 3.33 (Unweighted) - It will increase a lot with my 1st sem grades. I think I have all A's and only one B.

Class Rank:161/624 (weighted), 176/624 (unweighted)
(Also will increase after this semester)

SAT: 1900 - CR:670, M:620, W:610

APs: Enviro-4

ECs: Dance (10 years), Key Club(4 years)--treasurer (1 year), NHS for Dance(4 years), Dance Club (4 years), Marshal (2 years), Dance Ensemble (1 year), Teen Democrats (2 years), Amnesty International (1 year), NC Senate Page (summer 2009), NC Governor's page (summer 2010), Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica (summer 2009), and
NC GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL (summer 2010) which I heard looks really good.

Essays: interesting and well written, also did optional essay.

Counselor rec: I think pretty good.

Teacher rec: teacher let me read and it was so good I cried hahah.

And I'm a legacy! (mom went to grad school there)

What do you guys think are my chances of admission?

Thats gonna be close. seeing that youre instate id say probably. Idk. being an OOS student i really only know the stats for OOS admissions. Good Luck! Sorry!

Chance me please-- Im OOS sat 2100, gpa 3.966, a few ecs and some decent essays.

im stressin

tasty and college – you both sound like strong candidates to me. :)

Re crying over teacher rec: LOL, I did that, too. My home-schooled DS took a course in Expository Writing at local CC. (We’re in-state.) His teacher there sent me a copy of the recommendation she’d sent to Chapel Hill. (She sent similar recs to Appalachian State, UNC Asheville, and a few other places.)

Anyway, well…yes, when I read this recommendation, I cried. It was so beautiful I couldn’t help it. It reminded me of the scene in the old 1940s movie The Corn Is Green where Bette Davis, as the middle-aged schoolmarm, reads the young Welsh coal miner’s essay and realizes that she’s got a gifted kid on her hands. LOL, OK, maybe not quite that romantic: DS isn’t an impoverished Welsh coal miner, just a home-schooled kid from a rural county in NC. But still…

This teacher is such a sweetheart. Mrs. Flippin, if you’re out there, we love you forever. :)

Your class rank might hurt you but other than that you look strong.

college282, I’m not really sure what the out of state stats are haha but I think you have a pretty good chance. Your GPA is really impressive! i think your SAT is about average for OOS too.
