I know why I want to Transfer. It just won't work in my essay. Help Please?

So here is my problem. I want to transfer to Boston College. On my transfer Common App, it asks for an explanation about why I want to transfer. Because my current school and Boston College are similar academically (at least in terms of rankings), and because I actually like the curriculum at my current school better than I like the curriculum at BC (Gen. Ed. requirements are far less stringent), I am having trouble coming up with what will be considered a "valid" reason for transferring. I know what I like about BC: I have friends there who recommend it highly, I like the fact that it is a large school with a popular sports program (although I do not want to play sports, I do like to watch games and have something to support), and the social scene seems way better than that of my current school. I'm just not sure if these will fly with the admissions committee.

That being said, any suggestions? Thanks so much!

bump, anyone??

What is your intended major? If they have a great program at BC for your intended major, you could gear your essay towards that.

I want to double major in Politics and History. Unfortunately, this double major is very strong and very popular at my current school, so I fear that it will be hard to spin this in a way that would be advantageous on my app.

It is perfectly Ok to write that while you are happy with the academic program at your current institution, you have come to realize that it is not a good social fit. And that you believe the superior social environment at BC will lead to an enhanced college experience.

Thanks happymom! I think that is what I am going to say.
