i still haven't gotten everything in!!! MIT sent me and email asking me to send something else in...

Got like full tuition too. If they let me pay student contribution with scholarships, I'm all set.

I just finished sending the last thing in (noncustodial parent waiver thing) late last week.

Anyone know how long it takes for them to update the site/send the fin aid package..?

I'm having this problem right now while trying to contact the financial aid office. I was not able to attend CPW due to a big scheduling conflict. I called and was told that unless there was something changed from what was on the FAFSA/CSS, there's no change in the offer. When I tried to call again and talk to someone else, I was told they'd call me back but they still haven't :(

try to call tomorrow again? =/
it's the same with me, basically. really hurting my inclination towards MIT. 4 days to make a decision...

good luck to those who are still fighting for their financial aid!

Yeah, me too!

For those who have got better offers, did you get it before/after accepting MIT?

Thanks!

my family income is around $10,000, and MIT offered me $19,000 in financial aid + $5500 in self-help. i got my financial aid letter with the acceptance letter at the same time in that big package.

anybody wants to share their financial aid awards too?

well my family's been on welfare forever so no savings or assets or property or car or anything... so parent contribution = 0 so... basically all we pay is my $1500 student contribution and the rest is grants + $1450 self-help

are you missing another O MIT2010? My parents made a lot more than that last year and i still got a full ride minus a few hundred.

nope, $10,000 is my correct figure....wow, girlfriendmb, really?

do you think my parents can call MIT as soon as possible to "bargain" about my aid award? I really hope that they can give me another $5000 on the aid to lessen my parents' pressure. Any suggestion how to negotiate with the fin aid office?

Don't forget that assets as well as income are considered. Large asset holdings including real estate can increase EFC a great deal. By all means check with financial aid, but be aware it is pointless to compare only income.

you could prolly negotiate. At other schools, for example UPenn, only offered me about 20K and told me my parents EFC was 25K which is impossible for my family but everywhere else cept state schools said it was 0. Maybe MIT made a mistake.

thanks guys; do you think my parents should call them or email them? when is the latest time to negotiate with the financial aid office?

So......
I will be attending MIT =)

MIT was the MOST generous of the private schools I was accepted to. Columbia was the stingiest and Dartmouth was right in the middle.
