I love Mr. Bush!

Omg.

I'm watching the State of the Union right now.

I love our President. I love our flag. I love America.

!!!!!!!!!

I love the second two; the first one, not so much.

im not even going to bother watching it...i'll just read about it.

"Congress should totally fund the troops" which is a euphemism for the war. I hate those dumbass leading statements.

I turned it off quickly.

Yep, the president is truly a great and noble man. Whether he handled the presidency and the war the right way is up to question; his noble intentions, not so much.

cheney looks so awkward on tv

^ I second that. He and Bush just always put on these dopey old grins.

I love how the room is COMPLETELY divided, Democrats sitting and Republicans standing and whooping like a high-school football team.

Uhh yea, thats usually how the SOTU speech goes.

Bush's SOTU was horrible. Made it crystal clear that we should expect nothing particularly good from the rest of his presidency; not that I was anyways, but you know, it would've been nice.

It's nice that you love Bush. Naive, but nice.

$300 million for Pell grants for high school?! Are you *****ing kidding me

This is hilarious. MetdethGNR, you are officially a minority (on yur first point)

I thought MetdethGNR was being sarcastic...

I don't agree with him. But, I have to say it was pretty hilarious when they were moving the camera around. And you saw a few senators fast asleep or zoning out. That was my favorite part. lol.

His speech was so uninspired and boring. It just made me sad. I think that he's pretty much given up.

His speech was so bogus it was ridiculous. "More money for education! Less taxes! Balanced budget!" No matter that all those goals do not jive together.

Do I like Bush? No.

I still think he's underrated. He has integrity and, like most of our worst presidents, he is a victim of bad timing (see Andrew Johnson). I actually got a little emotional seeing him walk in last night. I've been so tied up with names like Romney, McCain, and Obama, I forgot all about Bush :)

Saying that he has integrity does not mean that he is a good person, or a good president. Keep in mind that Hitler also had integrity... he CERTAINLY adhered to moral principles, even if they were skewed (much like Bush). And merely saying that he is a victim of bad timing does not excuse his failures. Other presidents (WW, FDR) have been just as unlucky in their timing but did not screw things up so royally.

Are you comparing George W. Bush's moral principles to that of a man who killed 12 million people? The president is a good man; the fact that he messed up a necessary war does not make him a "bad" person.

The fact that you call the war "necessary" removes all credibility from your statement.

No, I did not compare his moral principles to those of Hitler. I said that he followed his principles, as did Hitler. The person I replied to said that he is underrated simply because he follows his principles.
