so, it's 3 am and i can't fall asleep because i had too much caffeine earlier while trying to get a paper written and i came by here to kill some time. it's funny reading what everyone else has to say about your school, because i remember when i was in high school i thought i knew everything about certain schools (even wash u!) and of course i was more than a little off!

i guess i just wanted to tell you all that this is seriously an amazing place to go to college. i love it. i never want to leave. i have made incredible friends, have taken incredible classes, and honestly just had the best time of my life. i'm a junior, and a bunch of my friends are graduating in may, and i am starting to get panicky because it's sinking in that it's all kind of ending soon. i feel like i really "found myself" in college, and i know that sounds so cliche and stupid, but i really did. wash u has really given me a chance to shine and discover what i'm great at and what i can do for the rest of my life. i've had amazing internship opportunites (honestly.. amazing) that i would never have gotten had it not been for connections in the career center here; have forged relationships with kind and brilliant professors who care so much that they have you over to their homes to go swimming on a hot day, or offer to bring you chicken soup when you're sick; joined a sorority -- something i NEVER thought i would do, in a million years -- and found not only a wonderful, amazing group of girls here on campus but a lifelong bond with women all over the country; met the guy i am going to marry; taken law school classes as an undergrad...i could go on....

so, everyone who thinks that wash u isn't great because st. louis sucks, yeah, you're right, st. louis does kind of suck, but there is so much more to this school than that!!! honestly, i could not have asked for a better place to spend four years of my life.

I was accepted ED2 this year. Two kids in my neighborhood (really, both live within a block), go to WashU, and they love it. It was their enthusiasm, their sincere and unstinting praise for the school that got me looking at WashU originally, then eventually visiting, and applying. Washu07, what my friends said about WashU mirrors what you wrote above. I'm really looking forward to my four years, and what you wrote makes me look forward to them even more.

Good luck to you, and thanks for continuing to confirm my impression of WashU.

Students like you make me really happy that I applied (and was accepted) EDII to WashU. Sure, people are gonna say what they want about the schol (overrated, quirky admissions policies, blah blah blah) but there is no denying that the students there are generally happy and love where they go. There are more than content and satisfied, but they truly make other people want to find out wut the big deal about WashU is. This is an amazing school and I am glad to be a prospective student. I hope I have the same type of experiences that you have been having, hope to see you there soon!

Another factor that should make all of you feel good about your decision: This "happy student" atmosphere about Wash-U is no recent phemonenon. I've had family members and friends at Wash-U since the late 1960's, through the 70's, 80's, and 90's, and my son is there today. There have been many changes at Wash-U: the endowment has soared through the strasophere; it now has a national reputation instead, rather than being known as a hidden-gem, pre-med school located somewhere in the midwest; the admissions' office (obviously through corporate consultants) discovered mass mailing, rather than word-of-mouth through in the know college counselors; admit rates are much lower; and the statistical qualifications of the student body are much higher. However, throughout the years and all these changes, Wash-U seems to continually admit a disproportionately large number of students who "want to be there," and they somehow do what they can to insure that a very large percentage of the student body ultimately leave the campus feeling really positive about their Wash-U experience.

Best of luck at Wash-U. I hope the reality of your experience exceeds all your expectations.
