I’m struggling to get my SAT score up.

Hello.

I took the March SAT and got 1070. I studied for a few weeks and then stopped because I figured it was my first SAT and I should see what I need to study after the scores come out. My original goal was 1200 because I’m applying to UCs in November, but after taking it I knew I bombed the math so I hoped for 1100s. Seeing that I didn’t even make that bummed me out because I thought I Atleast did good in reading and writing.

I got 540 in Reading and Writing and 530 in Math.

I was upset for a while but then I signed up for the June SAT and figured I could study for months for that one and do well. Well, I have been studying math for months on Khan Academy, and I took a practice test and I went down in score (520). After that I was hoping to just get a 600 on English so I could Atleast be 1100, but after studying I took a practice test and was the same score.

I’m getting really frustrated and discouraged. All my friends got high 1100s-1200s on the May SAT and I can’t even get to 1100. I’m in the IB program at school and was told that all IB kids do well, so I just generally feel dumb. I’m getting hopeless into getting into a UC.

Suggestions?

Do you live near a place that offers in-person SAT preparation? Some people don’t do well with online training or classes, but do much better in a classroom setting. Elite Prep has a good reputation and has locations throughout Northern and Southern California but will cost quite a bit.
