I made a HUGE MISTAKE

When I took the SAT, I did not put down any colleges to send the scores to at that point. I then completely forgot to go back and update the admission ticket. I realized that Umich does not accept Rush Score reports at all, and now I am going to have to wait 3 weeks for them to get my SAT score. Everything else has been sent in this week. So that means my app won't be looked at until November 14th ish just because of SATs. AHH!

My stats are 3.6 Umich GPA Out of State. I believe I got at least 1350 on the SATs, maybe even higher. Good essays, recs, ECs.

I guess there's nothing I can do, so I'll ask, how will my chances be?

Have you called the admissions office ?

I plan to do that tomorrow. Hopefully there is a way.

i'm in the same exact situation. what did the admissions office say when you called?

Definitely call them. Those stats are decent but you probably want to be safe as possible which means getting them in early.

:( sorry I can't be of more help

I know what it's like to make a huge mistake, too (like missing the. Oct. SAT testing date-ack...)

Strappleberry, I haven't gotten a chance to call them yet. I will call them tomorrow though. I really pray that they will be flexible and help me find a way to get the scores to them. I'll let you know what they say strappleberry.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew what to do. Michigan by far is my #1 choice, and I don't want to get rejected b/c of not sending an SAT score. BUT IF say they can't help me, what would my chances be in mid november?

"what would my chances be in mid november?"

I'd say higher end of borderline and up, but that's just my opinion.

I'm kinda worried about a flood of other apps from relatively confident kids in mid-Nov to Dec which makes getting in your app earlier (even by a week or two) a huge plus. i.e. My school's saludictorian didn't apply till close to winter vacation because he knew he was getting in regardless.

But that's just a theory.

OK. Here is the update: The admissions representitive told me that I should not worry. She said that it is still considered early as long as it's in before December 1st. She said just send it regular and it won't have a big impact on whether you are accepted or not. Only thing is that I will get my decision later on.

Now I hope that's true esp. because I am out of state. I guess I stop worrying now and just go with the flow and do what I would normally do.

Any thoughts on what she said?

You're worrying for nothing. Really. It took them more than 2 weeks to update my daughter's file once things were sent in, so your scores will get there just a few days after that. Relax!

Yea you're probably right. It's just this school is my #1 choice by far, and I want to do everything possible to get in.

Thanks for the information.

Good luck on your application.

When you say they won't accept rush scores, does that mean they flat out won't look at them? What if I am rushing to all the other schools on my list too, do I have to list Michigan separately for regular delivery in that case?

One more Q. If I send regular delivery today, 10/22, will they automatically send the Oct SAT II results? We don't officially get the results until this Monday.

Well when they say "We DO NOT accept rush scores," I guess you have to assume that they will not look at them at all.

For the second question, DO NOT send them before you get your results. I called up collegeboard and asked the same thing, but they said it will not send the October scores because you did not receive them yet. So just wait until Monday.
