I messed up freshman year. What are my chances of still getting into a UC?

I had a hard time adjusting freshman year because my classes were harder than I expected them to be. I took all honors and an AP class which ended up being a rocky start. Honors chem is basically what killed my GPA because I got Cs for the first time ever. Ugh.

Anyway, I had a 3.17 (unweighted) 3.33 (weighted) first semester, and a 3.67 (unweighted) 3.83 (weighted) GPA second semester. I know it isn't completely horrible but I was really trying to get at least a 3.83 unweighted GPA. (This is on a 4.0 scale). I'm just scared that I won't be able to get into UCSD or a college like that.

Besides that, all I've joined is Key Club which is a volunteer club but I never showed up because I really just didn't enjoy the club. I wanted to be in sports but I never made any of the teams. I don't know what to join. I want to be a doctor but the only club similar to that would be Science club which I plan on joining next year.

My sophomore year schedule next year is:
PE
World Lit Cp
AP World History (World lit and APWH are blocked together, they're like combining the classes)
AP Bio
Pre Calc Honors
Spanish 2

Do you think if I try really hard and hopefully keep at least a 3.83 first semester or eventually a 4.0, I'll still have a shot at a UC?

Of course. Besides, freshman year grades are not calculated into your UC GPA, the only grades taken into consideration are your sophomore and junior year grades. If your school doesn’t have any clubs that you enjoy, make your own club, that’s what I’m doing this year.
