Where can I get in?

Final Note: A close family member was in prison freshman and sophomore year. Although this is not the only reason it is a small part of my grade trend. Should I mention this, does it make any difference?

Sorry this is so long! Thank You for looking at it!

Honestly, I do not see where you messed up. The Ivy league’s are definitely in your range considering your high GPA and perfect SAT score. You have great ECs (the visit to Vietnam over the summer will look very nice), minority background, and you are taking challenging classes. Another important thing to note is that your grade trend is going upward, which shows improvement. This trend is much better than the converse and may even be better than getting straight A’s as it shows that you have the ability to notice mistakes and improve. Also, I think you should include information about a close family member going to prison as this shows that you had fight through hardship as well as strength of character. You could discuss the hardships involved in this for your college admission essay. Looking at your resume as a whole, you have a diverse area of interests as well as a diverse background and this is exactly what top colleges are looking for.

Definitely aim for the top schools. An awesome junior year will make your weak soph year very insignificant. If you write one of your essays on this close family member being jailed and how that affected you then I think your rise could make you more interesting than the 4.0 student.

And do I really need to say anything about that SAT score?

oh please, there’s nothing wrong with you.
