I’m in a bad situation. I’m a freshman in college and i missed a midterm. So, I emailed the professor and told him that I couldn’t get to the midterm because i was still in pain from an accident at work (partially true- the accident did happen but i wasn’t ready for the midterm). So in our next lecture, somehow i wasn’t afraid so I didn’t skip, he writes on the board the names of the ppl who need to take the midterm, of course my name was on it. One person took it, and the other two there was a mistake. So it’s just me. He called my name out today to see if I’m here but I didn’t answer. What should I do? I still need to take the midterm but what if he remembers my face and confronts me? I could get a doctor’s note and go on Saturday. I’m so scared. What do I do? Should I email him?
Just email him asking when you can take the midterm. Then take the midterm when he suggested.
(And, how were you going to get a doctor’s note if the accident didn’t happen?)
I guess I don’t understand the predicament.
email him today and let him know you’ll take the test at his convenience.
No matter how little you know, it’s better than the zero you’ll get if you continue to dodge this test.
And it’s really, REALLY not fair to your classmates, who took the exam at the scheduled time. Lying and avoiding reality is not the way you want to live your life. Just take the test and get what you get.
Of course you should contact him and take the test whenever possible. I hate to tell you this, but your current mentality is not one that is going to make you a successful college student. You can’t be afraid to fail a test, otherwise it’s going to lead you to do things that will have much more severe consequences, such as academic dishonesty (which you have arguably already committed). If you make a mistake like failing to study for an exam, face the consequences rather than making your problems even worse by being dishonest. An F is not that bad compared to the punishment for academic dishonesty.
I’m not trying to make you feel bad or guilt you. I just think you need a wake up call before you do something really stupid. I hope it works out.
