I MISSED YESTERDAYS DEADLINE - Should I still submit?

It's only 1 day, but I'm thinking it's still a huge deal, and might make my application "not applicable" or something anymore. Any advice? I'd call admissions but it's a holiday so...

I already had my SAT scores paid to be sent and everything, I can't believe I missed the deadline, but I don't want to pay for the application if it's not even going to be considered?

Any help?...

Go ahead and call admissions. Some schools are still working today. Also, I heard that Amherst receives 2/3 of its applications the day before, the day of, or the day after the deadline (one of teachers told me that). Not sure if its the same Amherst, but I figure that it is the same general idea. If they receive so application many the day after the deadline, I think they may fudge a little on the deadline.

I keep on calling but I get an automated message saying they are receiving too many calls and to call back later.

I’d submit and hope they have a one-day grace period, especially since today is a holiday. Nothing to lose but the application fee, and I assume you really want a chance to go to UMass next year.

Actually, I’d assume that if the Common App lets you apply, it is good.

Common app will allow me to submit it indeed, I just don’t know if I should take the chance. The application fee is pretty high (my parents have already paid a lot of money for all this college stuff), and I’d just feel bad if I had them pay it, when in the end UMASS might not even consider my application.

Their website says this: “Failure to submit a completed application by the stated deadlines may result in the withdrawal of the application without review.”

So I don’t know…I just wish they’d answer their phone.

It said “may.” Not “will.” If they don’t consider, they should refund.

Were you able to end up applying after the deadline?

Good luck!!

I ended up not sending it in, I figured I didn’t want to have my parents spend 60$ for nothing. Admissions never ended up answering the phone, so I just didn’t take the risk.
