printers now cost like $50. i would wait for the new one

for printers, invest (note: not buy, invest) in a black and white lazer for your room. It's not necessary, per se, but it's the way to go if you must have a printer. You'll never need color, but it's a pain to print off a 35 page article with an ink printer.

Yeah, plus the printer they would be giving you if most likely crap. Last time I got a free printer (lexmark) after rebates the ink ran dry after like 25 pages, and a new cartridge was like $20 for black alone. I never used that again, but now I have a cannon and have printed hundreds of pages on the original cartridge.

Hey, I read that Dell has discounts for Cornell students too, but I have been comparing and I see nothing... do they really give something significant? Or it's only Apple?

I just switched from a PC to a Mac for Cornell, and I love my mac already. And I got the Mac, an iPod Touch, and a printer for about 1200, when usually the mac alone costs 1300. I would take advantage of Apple's promotion. If you don't want the iPod, you could always sell it and get $300 back.
