A few months ago I posted my resume on this board for a chance thread and was told that my only weak spot was my 30 ACT score.

That was the one I took in June, it was: 34 English, 26 Math, 30 Reading, 28 Science.

So I retook it in October but still got a 30! =( But my subscores were different: 35 English, 30 Math, 29 Reading, 25 Science.

I have a debate tournament on the next testing day, which I could skip if it was absolutely necessary but I'd be letting my team down, as I already skipped another one for the last ACT.

Should I retake? If I send both scores, will that help me?? HELP!!
Thanks!

My son took the ACT twice to earn his 32 composite score last year. He applied regular decision with a 3.8 GPA and his 32 ACT and was rejected. He did not have legacy or minority preference, though his brother is a sophomore at Notre Dame.

Unless you have legacy or minority preference, I'd certainly recommend retaking the ACT. Come to think of it, I'd recommend retaking it even if you do have a preference; I've read that Notre Dame is expecting 17000 applications this year.

isnt a 30 equivalent to a 700 on the SATs? Don't worry, there is no cutoff. The example given isn't really relevant. GPA and ACT aren't everything. You may have great ECs. Make a "Chance me" thread, the people here will give you a better idea.

people have gotten in with that, but if u review last years acceptances--it's VERY rare if not legacy/minority/athlete... they say that they won't combine ACT subscores, but if they have both in front of them, I would say it has to effect them somehow!
