I dont know how much any of you know about san diego state university, but my two choices are that and Pitt. Pitt is ranked higher, 57th in the nation, while sdsu is in the fourth tier (bottom 25%)... However, Pitt is more expensive, further away from home, not as cultured and as big as san diego, where do you think i should go?

It depends how important money is. If money is not a problem, and academics is really what you're looking for, then I would definately pick Pitt. But it also depends on what kind of atmosphere you want. I don't know much about SDSU, so I can't really help you there.

P.S. The San Diego metropolitan area has 2,941,454 people, and Pittsburgh has 2,370,776. So the San Diego area isn't much bigger, although I think the city itself is bigger. And Pittsburgh has a ton of culture, just not much Latino culture.

Yes, i am gonna be an economics major, and i believe pitt has a good econ program... and pitts city population is 330k, but as long as it has life and culture ill be fine.

Pitt has many cultural opportunities. There are museums, theatres, symphony, etc. There are great sports teams to support, as well. Many fantastic restaurants can be found in different areas of Pittsburgh, all are a short FREE bus ride away for Pitt students. Pitt is a great city with so much to do. Check out the Pittsburgh website and you will be amazed.

Good!.. thanks nurse, you wouldnt happen to know if there economics program is worth it ?.. it will be a bit more expensive than san diego, and i wanna make sure my moneys going to good use.. SDSU is known for a party school and has a pretty low ranking.. i just want to give myself the best oppurtunites for my future career

The SDSU business program is ranked pretty high. One of the best public business programs in the state of california. I suppose it just depends what type of atmosphere you want- in terms of climate, people etc. Also where you want to work after college...I'd imagine Pitt would be better for the east coast, whereas SDSU might be better for the west coast after graduation.

If it's a matter of prestige, I'd have to believe that no matter where you are, Pitt would be more respected than SDSU.

It has to do with prestige and the area. If Pitt is worth the extra money in the long run, then I think it would be the better place to go, but I dont want to go to a boring, lame city, which doesnt appear to be the case.

Pat2323, what was your major at Pitt and do you think that Pitt has helped you with what you are doing now after graduation? Do you think you have more opportunties now because you are a graduate from pitt?

fisch2332, I got a degree in engineering in with a minor in political science. I don't think any other school could have prepared me better. I had a great job lined up back in New York by the time I graduated, thanks to Pitt's career services. And I am going back to Pitt in the fall to get my MBA.

Pat, yeah, i think Pitt will be the right choice. My bro is going to Pitt's MBA program next year as well, thanks for the help

Pittsburgh is not a lame city. It certainly is not NYC, but as a college town it is right up there with Boston and Washington, D.C. There are so many opportunities in Pittsburgh and the city is so welcoming to its students. It is also affordable and easy to get around.

so Patt and nurse, do you think Pitt is worth the 30k a year for out of state tuition? I would only have to pay it the first year maybe 2 years, but is it worth that much?

I paid it, and I would do it again.
