I’m in Community College right now and I have it made. Lots of friends, 4.0 GPA and president of the math club, all in my second semester of Freshman year. What I am worried about is making friends when I transfer out. I feel like in college everyone just forms their little friend groups so quickly, and I lucked out cause I made a ton of friends when we were all new.
What my questions are:
Is it hard to make friends when you transfer out?
What are some places to meet friends
What I am guessing is to search out for other transfer students, but I don’t know where to find them. Thanks for the help!
If the college you are transferring to has co-op housing as an option (big schools often do), consider that as a housing option to meet people. Clubs, study groups, intermural sports, part time jobs, and volunteer opportunities are are all good options, too.
Some colleges have orientation programs for transfer students which can be helpful.
Other than that you can look to meet people in classes, clubs, and housing (if you live on campus). It will take effort on your part but it definitely can be done.
If you made friends quickly where you are, there’s a great chance you just will again. Just be aware of what clubs and housing options you think would be best for you as you switch. Many schools have specific orientation events for transfer students. If you are transferring to a large public, there will be many transfer students.
