People around me are deciding where they are going to school and I'm starting to get freaked out that I'm so confused. I applied to Mac RD and haven't heard anything yet... When I visted I really loved the vibe and felt at home, but I'm really indecisive.
So here's some background- I want to do anthropology and go into a career in human rights. But I'm pretty open-minded. I'm low-key but I work hard. I'm NOT a partier, although that could change. I guess some would consider me a hipster. I'm trying to decide between Georgetown, Macalester, University of Wisconsin, Emory, And Penn. I still haven't heard from Penn or Macalester . Anything to help me decide if I'd be happy with the anthropology program or the social life at Macalester would make me appreciate you FOREVER. Specifically, I'm having trouble figuring out whether or not going to a small school would be an advantage.

I can say with some confidence that you sound like a Macalester student.

Mac would be a good place for someone with your career interests. However, you would find more Anthropology course offerings, and more professors with a wider variety of specialties at the universities on your list. Perhaps a little more competition for their attention, however.

With nothing but high-quality schools on your list I suspect you will do fine wherever you end up. Good luck!

I would add one comment on Macalester. Minnesota has a very strong human rights community. In particular, Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights is one of the leading human rights organizations in the world. Many Macalester students have had internships at the Minnesota Advocates.

In addition, St. Paul is the home to the Center for Torture. I would suggest that you look up both of those organizations on the web when you are making your decision.

Good Luck.

Have you heard from Macalester Admissions?

Yah, I got in!!! (I'm excited)

All those other schools are pathetic next to the mighty God of schools that is Macalester College.

P.S. I lied.. there is no God.

I find your post to be crude and entirely unsupported by empirical evidence.
