I have a terrible GPA and I am Community College in NJ. I didn't care much and wasn't really interested in Business that much anyway. Kinda forced to go to CC by my parents but I wont blame them. I just kept getting low grades and generally didn't care. Early this year I had a internship/job(connections can do wonders) evern with the super low GPA.

Well I hated the Job so much that I refused when they offered me to stay.I just don't think the Business world is for me. After taking a geology class in Fall I have decided that the world of Geology is for me. I have been to a small field camp in upper NJ in winter and loved it.

Now currently I am in middle of a semester and still doing the business admin major classes. I got about another 1-2 semesters left in CC but I want to start a new and my CC doesn't offer a geology course at ALL.

Now with my low GPA do you think I will get into any of these Universities?

University of Montana
University of Maine-Orono
University of North Dakota
University of Wyoming

The above colleges have pretty high acceptance rates, well into 80% and above. I just got finished sending the transcripts in and what not, now I am wait, any idea how long the typical wait time is for the above colleges.
I'm pretty sure that my chances would increase because of major. Looking at those colleges, none of them have geology in top 10 most enrolled so I don't maybe it increases my chance but who knows.

Also which college do you think would accept me with a 2.0 GPA considering the above colleges all decline me. I need to think ahead and apply as soon as get my acceptance/rejection letters from the above, I am hoping for the worst honestly. If I get in then I will take the offer but incase I don't what colleges do you think will accept me?

In your last paragraph I think you meant “expecting the worst, hoping for the best”

I’m trying to understand what you are trying to do. You have taken business classes at your cc, and have done certain amount of hours, your gpa is low, but now you wanna transfer into geology? Im not sure how those universities work, but dont you need a set of pre-requisites transfer to a 4 year university? My local universities require to have Chem(1, 2), physics(1), and Calc (1, 2) done before transferring to geology.

You said that you only have 1 or 2 semesters left at your cc so inI dony know how you will do all of these, unless you already have them. Then your major problem would be raising your gpa

I was hoping to get in at a freshman level in the above colleges. I will(by fall 2013) have fulfilled my English requirements and most electives so effectively I will only have geo and math courses in my first year and second year at either university.

Is the above not possible? If not then I am truly lost on what to do.
Also what do you think the best course of action would be for me? My CC doesn’t have a geology program or anything close to it. I fell like I can change my life around, I am only 20(birthday in NOV).

I think there is some confusion between transfering into the major and just transfering. I know someone who transfered between several schools before deciding on a major at a 4 year university, so I think it is possible to transfer into a school and see what general credits you can get credit for- and start the major from the beginning. Even people with one degree already can go back to college for another.
I guess you can wait to hear from the colleges and see what happens and/or reapply. Out of state might be costly. Another possibility is to look at a school like Rutgers and see what you need to take as far as pre-reqs go at your CC. You should be able to take physics, chem, and math, and you can ask them about which credit will transfer. Then, work really hard to get great grades in those classes.

Yes, you can attend a college as a non degree student but there may be a limit on how many classes you can take and then you’d eventually have to apply as a degree seeking student. You can also take summer classes at a college- but classes like physics can be brutal at a fast pace like that. Chemistry may be OK.
