I really wanted to avoid applying for financial aid but now im not too sure. Where can I find a non-merit based scholarship to places like NYU anf GWU???... Im an international. Is there any sort of scholarship that helps you out based solely on where you get accepted???

Scholarships tend to be based either on financial need or on some kind of merit (academic merit, or athletics, or some other special talent). There are some that are targeted at certain groups of students, like children of workers in specific industries or graduates of certain high schools planning careers in medicine (or some other specific area).

I don't know of any that are designed for students based on where they're accepted other than a college's own institutional funds that they make available to their students according to whatever financial aid policies they have.

It's more difficult for international students, too. Are there any scholarships in your country for students going abroad to study? That sounds like it might be a more productive place to search for funds.

Most institutional merit scholarships deadlines are already past by now. You can probably still apply for some outside scholarships, but it's really hard to make any significant amount with them. So, I would agree with 'rentof2 in that you should look to scholarships in your country for going abroad--but that depends on which country you are coming from.

I'm sorta international

I know some people who get scholarships/grants from their Home countries

contact the secretary of education in your country.
I am sure you can get some money, I know in Mexico, some government officials send students to Cuba to study Medicine on full scholarship.

Contact them, if not, you can always try fastweb scholarship site.

Some scholarships are for INT students too and/or exclusively.

yeah. thanks for the advice. I have a scholarship counselor. I'll talk to her and see what she/I can do
