Hi everyone,
so this year i got into nyu. but as i am an international student, i received no financial aid whatsoever. and nyu is very expensive. My family agreed to pay it at first. So I paid the deposit and everything and was excited to go to NYU, and rejected other colleges' acceptances. Now though, it turns out my dad's business is going down. At this point, for me its one of these options;
1) go to nyu and get my family under a HUGE debt :(
2) go to one of cuny colleges (cheap colleges in new york city close to where i live but not that good colleges. they are ok i guess but definetely not what i am looking for)
3) defer nyu's decision until next year, take a gap year and apply again next year. my college counselor was really not good and now i realize i made many mistakes on my applications. the colleges that give financial aid to internationals are mostly ivy league colleges that i did not apply because of my low sat scores (except for yale and harvard, which i got rejected from)

my high school GPA is pretty good (3.8) but my SAT is 1800. However, I have not studied for SAT at all, so I am thinking if I study I could increase the score. It might not be enough for Ivy League but if it is enough for UCLA, as they give financial aid to internationals, that could be better than nyu as well.

I really need help. :( I have good amount of extracurricular activities except for this year (my senior year) as I had to come home everyday and teach my mom english...
and finally I really want to get into a top tier college... do you think I could pull it off or taking a year off would seem bad? I mean if all goes bad, I could go to nyu after a year I guess... bu I dont want to give up without trying. Ideas?
