I need my prof to change my grade!!

Hey everyone,
Here's what you need to know:
- I needed a B in the 2nd semester of calc so i can fulfill the TAG requirements. I had a 78% prior to my final and I got an 80% on my final (1/4 of my grade).. Which leaves me at a 79% in the class..
- I did well (medium B's) in all the exams but 1 (64%... I had my Physics final the day before).
- My average quiz score was a 75%.
- I went to class everyday and made a valid effort for the B (during the 8 week summer session).

Is there any thing I can say or do to maybe convince my professor to give me the B-?

Any input would help a ton. Thank you guys..

no.

(10 char)

Did begging for a better grade work in high school? Say it to yourself as many times as you need to: “Community college is not high school.” “Community college is not high school.”

Explain your situation to him. Cry. Beg.

I’ve never done it, but I have heard of people who have borderline grades explain their situation to the professor and end up getting the higher grade. It’s worth a shot, no?

No. You got a 79% in the class, nothing you can do about it. Its not fair to the people who actually got Bs if your grade is artificially raised.

Sorry, that’s not good enough.

It’s not the prof’s problem that you need a certain grade to fulfill some sort of requirement. You can try asking him, but I seriously doubt he’ll change your grade, especially if you come across (as you do to me) that you somehow deserve the higher grade just because you need it for a requirement and you came to class every day.

explain the situation calmly and ask if there is some way you can prove to him that you deserve the slightly higher grade. Don’t sound whiny or come off as though you feel entitled to the grade.

I have tried sending angry/condescending/arrogant emails to my professors explaining why I think I should have got a better grade, and that never worked. My friend sent an email to his professor expressing how he was disappointed with his grade and expected to do better and sounded sad and confused about it, but did not request for the teacher to change the grade. It turned out the teacher forgot to add a 5% or 10% curve to the final grade as he did the rest of the class.

So you it’s worth trying, if you ask me. But usually a grade in calculus or physics can not be argued unless you have a strong feeling you did better and there may have been a mistake in the calculation of your grade, like they might have mixed up the grades for the final exam.

This isn’t high school bud. You can’t go now and kiss a** and expect your prof to raise your grade.

Honestly, I know people who’ve done it. If you have an understanding teacher and you can explain the situation, they may help you out.

Sure you can. Remember Jay Leno and all those teacher jokes? “It happened again!”

Blow job???

I’ve never succeeded in getting a teacher to change my grade so I can’t imagine how likely it is to get a prof to. But I guess it couldn’t hurt to ask as long as you don’t plan to take his/her class again.

Ask if you can do some last (um, very last) minute extra credit.

Can you honestly tell urself u deserve it…if u can…explain to ur professor…it works (rarely)

Assuming an 80 was the cutoff for a B…
What you COULD do is go over all your old exams, and look for areas where you were given partial/minimal credit. Find 1-2 where you think you could convince him to give you a little more credit for each problem (e.g say he marked it wrong when you had the first 3 steps right, but wrong answer.) If he gave you a few points here, a few points there etc it might be enough to bump you over the line.

well, you have nothing to lose and so much potentially to gain. I suggest you do it. Look thru your old quizzes/test and see if he made a mistake.
