I need so help/adivce

Hi I am new to the forums and I had a few questions about prep school

I have recently made the decision that I was going to apply to prep school to help further my educational experience and to help me get in and help me become prepared for college. I am currently a junior attending a public school with a average/low average reputation and really want to attend a prep school to get that amazing academic experience. I am taking my ssat in a week and I was wondering if anyone had any personal knowledge or just knowledge about a few schools. Please point out pros and cons about the education(teachers classes), campus, surrounding area, etc.

Deerfield(would love to go there but I am not sure if I can get in)
Proctor
Taft School
Cheshire(my dad is a legacy)
Berkshire
Brewster
Tabor

I you have any other schools you would like to suggest please tell me!

thanks
Chris

Hi, I think you should wait and see ur ssat’s also I think your best bet is Cheshire because of the connection or tabor, all of them are good but with average/low grades u should not depend on deerfield/taft but the other would be great for u

lullabyducky- I didn’t see anything in the OP’s post that indicates he/she has “average/low grades.” Not sure where you’re getting this from.

hubbard- Have you attended any open houses/tour-interviews. What are your impressions?

I know a good amount about Berkshire.
It’s a great school, with a beautiful campus. The campus is definitely in the top 3 of New England preps. It’s jaw dropping. I live about 20 minutes, and I would love to attend there in 2 years.
PM me for more details, if you want.

personlay I think if you want to go to boarding its for as u say education but also freedom 20 min away is not far at all also if you can you should be a boarder because they normaly have a better time then day students

Deerfield and Taft are very prestigious schools that are very hard to get into, the other ones, you might have a decent chance of getting in to

Would you boarder or be a day student? If you are a junior now what year are you applying for? Is FA a consideration? My second daughter is a sophmore at Cheshire/ her first year, have been very satisfied with the educational experience. Classes in history, English and Spanish are excellent/ particular kudos to the history class. These are honors classes, but oldest daughter graduated from Chate 2008 and these teachers and rigor of curiculum, at least in these, compare favorably. we like the campus size and the student body overall attitude also/i
