I just got into Stanford SCEA, and now I need to decide whether I want to apply to Princeton. Princeton is the only school that would make me take a long, hard thought about where I really wanted to go; I'd take Stanford most definitely over any other school. Can anyone give me their suggestions about what they think I should do? Obviously I expect you guys to be biased towards Princeton, but time is running out to make a decision if I want to finish my essay and submit an application by the 15th. If you really want to see my stats, you can look at my other posts, I'm not making this a chances thread.

I would say no, for our sake. Your name implies that even presented with the choices, you would go with Stanford. Taking up a spot seems a bit self-centered considering that. You already got lucky breaking the rule in Stanford SCEA, and you shouldn't make the lives of those who got rejected more difficult by competing again with them.

Apply if you actually want to go here. If not, don't. amciw, he won't be taking anyone's spot. There is a reason for the waitlist.

Of course you should apply. You don't owe the other applicants anything. If you might actually want to go to Princeton over Stanford, then by all means.

The only time an application is 'unethical' is when you're applying just to show off acceptances when you have no intention of actually going. That is obviously not the case here. And Stanford is EA, not ED for a reason.

His username indicates that subconsciously, that is not the case.

amciw I understand your pain right now but there's no way I'm going to decide not to try for Princeton based off of my sympathies to you. I don't know if I would choose Princeton over Stanford, but in order to make that decision I have to apply and then get accepted, which most likely wouldn't even happen. Any other thoughts from the Princeton board?

I think that if you're asking, you still have some inkling to consider going to Princeton if you got in.
So apply. If you can put forth a quality application and feel that paying the $65 is worth it, do it.

Go for it if you're really thinking about it.

No, I'm really just saying I doubt you will end up choosing Princeton. That being said, if you wish to compare FA packages and play the two places off each other, that is a completely understandable reason to apply, and by all means, do it.

Edit: I was going to apply to Princeton if I got in Stanford SCEA, but that was because I was truly undecided between the two at the time. I didn't sense that same indecision, and thus didn't think it would be worth your time.

Reconsidering, you should definitely apply, because aside from the FA, you may go back to Stanford and suddenly decide you hate it. You don't want to be left without a choice if that happens.

Not really. I know it'd be ridic hard to decide b/t Pton and Stanford, but you should probably know which one you'd choose by now. You have to get into Pton first to EXECUTE your decision, but not actually make it.

That is true. Honestly I am leaning extremely heavily towards Stanford, but I recognize so many great things in Princeton that I want. I'm going to have a long talk with my guidance counselor about this.
