I never got an ELC letter in the mail, and my principal says he lost the paper!

I never got an ELC letter in the mail, so I asked my counselor, who said he didn’t have it and made me talk to the registrar, who said she didn’t have it and made me talk to the principal, who says that he saw the list of students and their ELC numbers not too long ago. He then asked me to wait, and spent 10 minutes looking through his desk and then said that he couldn’t find it!

How can I find my ELC number now?

I have been getting postcards and letters from UC Merced and Riverside and etc., and I’m rank 2 in my 800 person class, so I know I definitely qualify for ELC.

how can your counselors or registrar not have it… i swear that the ELC people send the names over the computer … i take you have thanksgiving break too (we have it for one week, not sure about you) but since the 30th is approaching you better call ELC or hope your principal finds it…

any other input anyone…

You should definitely contact the University of California and ask what to do. Here’s a link: [University of California - Contact information](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/contact/index.html)

Call the ELC help desk, and they will give you your ELC number

while you are on hold, email

and include

[ELC Notifications](http://www.ucop.edu/sas/elc/notifyinfo.html)

Good luck!

“As a result, sometimes it can take up to two weeks to return phone calls and answer e-mail inquiries.”

Great!

I sent an email message to the center today, an autoreply was sent back:

If you are an ELC qualified student and you did not receive a letter in the mail with your ELC number, please complete your application without your ELC number. Your ELC status will be linked to the admissions application by the system. You do not need your ID number to complete your application.

does this mean I (and Mao) don’t need to put the ID number on it?

according to this… yes you wouldn’t need to put the ELC ID…
however, submit the application and keep trying to contact them and all for safe purposes… like suppose there is a glitch in the system and your ID isn’t put in or something… you know what i mean… so for submission purposes you do not need it, however keep contacting them to make sure that the system did in deed link your ID to your name :)

If I were you, I would call and speak to a live person. Regardless of what the email says, it would be better to have the number on the app instead of relying on them to retroactively add it *for *you. They screwed up once already by not sending it to you, how do you know that they won’t screw up again?

dignified1
ur right in this case, however, time is also limited. today i think they are closed, so he has tomorrow and tuesday (the last day)…
my personal advice would be to call them again and again until they GIVE YOU THE NUMBER… no linking, nothing… (THIS MUST BE DONE TOMORROW, MONDAY)… why ask for the number? because linking is not enough, you want ot have the number as proof, in case something goes wrong… that being said, as soon as you get the number, send the application, spend the rest of today perfecting it, and tomorrow if the number get to you, send it off…

dont wail till tues. 100-11:59 to submit the application, the server WILL crash… in fact do it the earliest you can to get it safely in!
