Alright, I STILL don't have my October test scores. The status on the page says "No Answer Sheet Received". I don't understand how they could lose a test sheet!!! This is so disgusting to the highest degree. I depended on those scores with scholarships/admissions, and now I am screwed. I thought the ACT would be a fairer test than the SAT because of the science aspect, but ACT is the worst possible company ever. I have called ~50 times to their offices and have received nothing but lies, lies, and more lies. They told me that they found my test, and that I had mis-bubbled my SSN. I said okay, and bit my tongue (this was the 11th week). They told me that the scores would be reported 3-7 weeks after the test date, so I was already very angry. So now, I am like... fine, just let me take the damn thing again in February, but no.... They are like, oh you have to pay a $20 change of test date fee, then a $20 late registration fee, and you will have to test standby. I have NEVER seen a successful company been able to stay in business with this attitude. Mind you, I have never had a single problem with collegeboard. Every single time, my scores were up on the first day. I officially want to propose an ACT boycott!!!

I'm really sorry to hear that.

So if they found your sheet, and they said 3-7 weeks, does that mean that you'll be getting those scores sooner or later?

While I hope that I will get the scores, I seriously doubt it will happen. I will happily pay CollegeBoard my $65 and have to take the test again on January 26th. I am very upset that my scores did not get to the University of Florida for admissions consideration though. There is nothing I can do about it, since the deadline has already passed. I wrote the post to inform people about the cruelties of the ACT, not to make them feel sorry for me (although it has been very difficult to wait for weeks on end and be lied to while they can't find your test)

dude i don't know what to say. this is beyond ridiculous..

have you reported this case to anyone?

who would I report it to? I'll call again tomorrow, for the 123819230812903rd time. Maybe I can yell at them some more. Last time, they threatened to disconnect the call because of my "tone of voice". :/

I would also let the colleges know about the snafu. They might be more sympathetic to the error, seeing as you're not the first one who missed a deadline on behalf of a test corp.

maybe to the BBB? or maybe like. get them some bad publicity somehow?

Who have you talked to? Can you have a parent or (better yet) your counselor call, and ask to talk to the manager or something (not that they shouldn't talk to you--but maybe someone else can get somewhere if they can stay calm)? If you tested at your own school, have you tried asking the test supervisor what the heck happened to your answer sheet?

I didn't take the test at my school. I will have my guidence counselor call ACT in the morning, thanks for the advice.

Geez. And I thought outsourced customer service in India was bad.........

Please, keep us posted. If your GC can't do anything, I would contact the BBB right away. Have you contacted UF again? Maybe you should remind them that problems with ACT are still occurring and perhaps they should postpone the review of your application. (If it won't hurt your chances, of course.) The Feb 15 decision deadline is awfully close though.

I had my GC call the ACT phone number, and they put her in the same trap as they do to me. First, they listen to the entire story, then they say "I will leave your phone number for a supervisor and they will contact you today". Then, you never receive a reply phone call from them and the entire thing starts over again. I have been in contact with the UF admissions director, but I don't think they will be able to accept them even if the scores come in now. I can still use the scores for scholarships and to qualify for the Honors programs at the schools I am already accepted into. I suppose you could say it's my fault due to lack of prior planning, but it's the 5th standardized test I have taken, and I figured that it would get to UF with ample time to spare. I think I'll ask my GC to call again tomorrow and ask to speak directly to a supervisor, since I don't have time to fool around anymore. I thought about calling my test center and asking what was up, but it was like 3 months ago, and they probably don't remember :/

Stop asking your GC to do this for you. She has no more power in this than you do! Take the matter into your own hands:

Get yourself to call just to demonstrate to parents what to expect. (Have them listen in)

Have parents call again and pressure them.

Contact local media with a "news tip." Usually this is somewhere on their website They love this stuff! Not only that, but you get to be on the news!

Contact BBB. In fact, you may just want to do this in conjunction with the above steps and file a complaint online right now. It doesn't take long. https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx

I can empathize with you.
I took Oct 2007 test standby.
They didn't give me my test results until JANUARY.
They said I didn't pay for a month and I did...
I thought they had lost my test as well. But it FINALLY turned up...3 days ago.

Try consumerist.com. They will hear your story.

And if it's that important to you, a simple phone call or letter from an attorney can work wonders.

Thank you for all your inputs. I will call the test center today and see if they will be of any help. If not, I will file a complaint with the BBB and contact the media. I will see about getting an attorney to write a letter to them, but on their website it says any disputes go to arbitration. Wouldn't this mean I would have to contact some government authority to do the arbitration?

No. When something goes to arbitration, the two parties agree on an arbitrator. But most corporations are sneak in a clause in the long list of stuff you have to agree to to use their products that in the event of arbitration, they get to pick the arbitrator, and more often then not they conveniently find one who makes them look good.
