I got an AA from Florida southwestern. They said they could no longer give me fin aid until I suggested that I change my major to continue receiving it. They allowed it and I was awarded financial aid for two semesters. Now they said I need to pay it back in full or else they will withhold my records/transcripts.. What can I do?

What school is this? Three months ago you were attending Valencia and UCF. <a href=“"transfer shock" after transfering to a university. pretty bad situation, please help - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums”>"transfer shock" after transfering to a university. pretty bad situation, please help - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums;

I’m asking on behalf of my cousin

Pay back the school

Why should I have too?

^The person that attended the school should pay it back.

If you are posting on behalf of someone else, why do you keep saying “I”?

If you or your cousin were not entitled to this money, you must pay it back.

So find out what happened.

Your cousin needs to go sit down with the head of financial aid, and talk about this. He/she should bring all of his/her records including his/her notes about the various conversations held with whoever it was who approved the last batch of aid. If the aid was distributed in error, then yes, your cousin is responsible. The head of the financial aid office will be able to look through the details with your cousin, and will be able to explain to your cousin what went wrong.

I can actually think of a number of scenarios that may have played out here. I see no reason to speculate, though, and urge you to do as others have suggested … ask the aid office what happened. If you don’t understand the response they give you, post it here & we will try to help explain it.
