I pray to make the PSAT 2009 Math curve to be lenient

-1, still 80.

-2, still 78

-3, still 76

I doubt it but one can always hope :)

Yeah, even getting one wrong on PSAT Math can bring you down to a 77, and 77 is actually generous since it’s normally a 76 or 75. That curve looks more like the one for CR though.

It will prob be
-1 = 750-760

ahaha i wish >:[
but most likely:
-0 80
-1 77
-2 74
-3 70
:[

if it seemed hard, -1 = 77.

@Arch
what would -2 be then?
74?

Probably. I’ve looked at every curve for the modern PSAT. A test that I found “hard” would have a curve like this:

-0 = 80
-1 = 77
-2 = 74
…

An EASY PSAT would have something like this:

-0 = 80
-1 = 75
-2 = 72
…

The “old” PSAT (the one with analogies) sometimes would have -1 = 78, but that’s because there were more questions…

Yeah, don’t expect PSAT curves to be nice and friendly. But remember, everyone is on that curve, so don’t worry about it. All that matters is your relative rank in composite score if you’re looking for national merit recognition.

Even though I think i only missed two questions, i think the PSAT math this year was a little trickier than normal…there were alot of questions that have been hotly debated (the digit 7 questions, the ABX question, the angle in the circle, the I,II, III for x y and z, the intersecting sequence question…if -2 this year is not AT LEAST a 74, then something is wrong.

So if i got -5 CR, -2 math, -3 writing…national merit for FL that had a cutoff of 211 last year?

^your cutoff’s only 211. **. ADD 10 pts to that and you have my cutoff. You’re so **ing lucky.

^ Wow, fresh101… that must be tough. :expressionless:

I live in Michigan, where the cutoff’s a mere 209. It’s INCREDIBLY low compared to many other states, so I guess I’m thankful for that. I was aiming for over a 220 though.

I got 1 wrong on the PSAT math section a few years ago and my score went to 75. :frowning: Total score was 190 ish.

What?! A mere 209?! I would undoutedbly get NMSF w/o even trying.

^ Yeah haha, I would’ve qualified for NMSF even with my sophomore year score (210)…
