I published a best selling novel!

So I have really superb grades, ECs, and test scores, but wondering will writing a publishing a book that was best selling get me a better chance for yale?

Ya it could be the “hook” that they are looking for. I don’t think it would guarantee a ticket in but it certainly wouldn’t hurt you!

It is easier to get into Yale than to publish a bestselling book. How’s that going to work for you?

@BrownParent: I think the OP is saying the bestseller has already been published.

If you self-published and your friends bought it, no. If it actually became a best seller will millions of copies sold, it’s certainly unique!

yes, the book has already been publish and has had really great sucess

Define bestseller.

I’m curious what your book is (if you are willing to disclose that info)

But yes that would make a great hook. You will still need good qualifications in GPA, test scores, etc. though if you want to get into Yale.

For what it’s worth, I have a friend whose daughter wrote a best-selling book…without getting into details, I’ll just say that she was interviewed on NPR and the Today Show (among others) and, yes, it got her into some pretty darn good colleges.

Giving us the title would reveil your identity, however, it wouldn’t hurt to reveil some other detail about your book.

Well, I don’t remember reading about a high school student who published a best selling book in high school in the news.
