WM applying ED; 700M/600CR/540W; 3.35gpa out of 4.0 (mostly all honors classes and 3APs); legacy; not applying for financial aid.

Need to figure out if, with my 700Math score, it would be easier me to apply directly to SMG or apply to CAS, then transfer my sophomore year.

Which do you think I’d have a better shot of getting admitted to??

Time is ticking away and really need to figure out my best route of admittance – THANKS!!!

I think Ive answered this before. It does NOT imrpvoe your chances to apply to CAS. It is not easier to get into than SMG. Please apply to the school that you actually want to go to.

I ask because on the SMG website, it states that the average SAT score for Class of 2012 was 1325, which, I believe, is higher than that of CAS. If the average SAT score is more than that of CAS, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume it is more difficult to be admitted to?

it seems that way. but the avg sat is higher just because it happens to be in that smaller group. the admissions office does not use different standards for sat scores for SMG and CAS (or ENG or COM). The group of people that want SMG tend to have a slightly higher sat, but the admissions office doesn't raise the bar for that school. I hope that makes sense it's kind of hard to explain. But the admissions committee is very sure to make it fair because they really don't want people trying to play the numbers game.

You are deciding whether you want to apply to SMG vs. CAS based on your chances of being accepted to each? Where you apply should be based on whether you want a liberal arts education or a professional degree (ENG, SMG etc.).

If you are interested in management, and feel BU is a reach or mid-reach, apply to SMG and other schools with similar management programs. Northeastern comes to mind.
